Eminent Visitors

The ‘stars’ have literally descended on Vidyalankar School of Information Technology in recent times. The Institute has had the honor of hosting and interacting with many eminent visitors, a fact which served to add great co-curricular and extra-curricular value to the teaching-learning process. The students and staff of Vidyalankar were enthralled by star visitors such as:

Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr. Man Mohan Sharma (FRS) visited the VIT campus in March 2014 and delivered a talk on “Life of a teacher, Researcher and Consultant in the University.”

International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, visited VSIT on and delivered a talk on ‘Building India as a Science, Technology and Innovation Superpower.’ In the post-liberalized India, Dr. Mashelkar has played an important role in shaping India's science and technology policies and is the former Director General of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).

Eminent astrophysicist Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr. Jayant Narlikar, famous for the Hoyle-Narlikar theory of gravity, addressed VSIT faculty members and students on ‘Anomalous Redshifts’ in April 2015.

Vidyalankar had organized a seminar by eminent entrepreneur Dr. Vithal V. Kamat, Executive Chairman and MD, Kamat Hotels India Ltd. in October 2014. The objective of the seminar was to develop a sense of entrepreneurship among students.

Prof. Dr. P. S. Rao, Emeritus Professor and Dean, Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research visited the Vidyalankar campus. He is associated with 26 Universities in India as External Referee and Chairman adjudicator for Dlitt PhD. Research Guide in 6 Universities. He is currently the President of Indian Association for Management Development and Vice–President Inter-University Council of Business Education and Research, Allahabad.

Dr. Ajit Ranade, Chief Group Economist, Aditya Birla Group visited Vidyalankar in March 2015 and delivered a talk on “Economic Problems, Planning & Practical Implementations.”

Sindhutai Sapkal, also known as Mother of Orphans, an Indian social worker and social activist known particularly for her work for raising orphan children visited Vidyalankar campus.

Dr. Rupa Rege Nitsure is the Chief Economist at Bank of Baroda. Prior to this, she has worked as a Senior Economist with ICICI (Development Finance Institution) and ICICI Bank and her key areas of specialization are Macroeconomics and Financial Intermediation.

Ms. Anita Khandekar, Manager at Bharatiya Mahila Bank and Ms. Renuka Joshi, Journalist at IBN Lokmat spoke on women empowerment on the occasion of Women’s Day at Vidyalankar.

Ms. Rashmi Bansal, author of bestselling books ‘Connect the Dots’ and ‘Stay Hungry Stay Foolish’, and who is also an entrepreneur and a youth expert visited the VIT campus and addressed students and faculty.

Mr. Achyut Godbole addressed VIT faculty members and students in February 2015 during a Business and Entrepreneurship Symposium organized by the IEEE chapter of VIT.

Dr. Rajpal Hande, Director, Board of College and University Development, University of Mumbai and Mr. Satish Joshi, Consultant at IGATE University also visited the Vidyalankar campus.

Mr. Deepak Ghaisas, Chairman of Gencoval Strategic Services Pvt. Ltd. (previously, CEO - India Operations and CFO of I-flex Solutions Ltd. India), and recipient of the CFO Asia Award, addressed students and faculty during Tantra Vihar-VIT’s annual project competition.


Dugad

Dr. Shashikant Dugad, a renowned scientist at CERN, Geneva and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, visited VIT in February 2015. He addressed the audience on research developments in the field of particle physics.


Gunday

Bollywood heartthrobs Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor dazzled the VIT Verve 2014 audience in March 2014 when they inaugurated the Institute’s annual festival along with promoting their movie Gunday.


Padmaja

Padma Shri Awardee Padmaja Phenany Joglekar, a Hindustani Classical singer wowed a jam-packed VIT audience at the annual festival Gondhal (Verve) 2011.


Ronu Majumdar

Acclaimed Hindustani classical musician Pandit Ronu Majumdar performed in a live concert at VIT in August 2013.


Ektara

Marathi movie Ektara starcast Avdhoot Gupte, Santosh Juvekar and Tejaswini Pandit visited VIT campus during Verve 2015.


Khamoshiyan

Hindi movie Khaamoshiyan starcast Gurmeet Chaudhary, Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi unveiled the Verve 2015 logo along with their movie promotion.

24th June was one of the Special Day for VSITians as VSIT was visited by the Education Minister of Maharashtra, Honorable Vinod Ji Tawade.
